RE: Telluride Housing & Shuttle & Beer

Beer….yes. I read it differently though. I read that it you get 1-3 beers and there is no knowing what you'll find….maybe good maybe PBR. I'm pretty sure it is heavy on the PBR.

 

Gunnison to Telluride is 2.5 miles. Assuming we'd want to get an early start to riding, we'd have to jet out of Gunnison around ….6am? According to the route sheet, our first day is 13 or 17 miles. (the 17 mile option sounds fun and if we have been in the area, we may be "acclimatized"…..check it out.  Either way, I would think if we started riding by 10am at the latest, we'd be good.

1. Beer - yes
2. Gunnison - yes. I am OK with getting up early the day of.
3. I think Dave, Michael and Mike are driving together from Truckee. The trailer is an option but we have not finalized yet. 
4. The easiest thing is to pay for having the cars/car shuttled over. But, we could do the driving ourselves especially if we have Michael's trailer. 
5. Michael's trailer I believe has front fork mounts which will be an issue for anyone with a through axle so that needs to be understood and somehow accommodated if we want to use the trailer. I know Dave has a through axle. Anyone else with that tech?

Housing:

Jan and I are staying at Erin's in Gunnison for the 7th and 8th.  Leaning towards staing the 9th too (get up early and drive to Telluride for the first day).  We'll miss out on seeing the town of Telluride, but we gain some cool pre-rides around Gunnison/Crested Butte.

Jan says Erin says we are all welcome.  Beds: queen bed, single bed, couch for the first night (Jul 7).  Another bed for the 8th & 9th (if we stay) after Erin leaves for vacation.  Probably a bit of a squeeze, but hey - can't beat the price!

So, who's in for Gunnison?  Is anyone really set on staying the 9th in Telluride?  If so, do you have hotel plans yet?  Other housing plans?

Shuttle:

Are CA folk (Mike Mike & Dave) driving in one car or two?

Seems like we should meet up in Moab and leave a vehicle there.  After that we can all pile into one large or two smaller vehicles to get from Moab to Gunnison?  Someone mentioned a trailer a while ago - that would seem necessary to make a single vehicle work. 

 

Or we can give up on our own shuttle and just hire someone.  Or one or two of us can hitchhike back from Moab to Telluride to get any cars we leave there!  :-P
