I plan on bringing a Garmin and my iPhone. But I don't plan on using my iPhone for anything other than photos. I'll be leaving the iPhone in airplane mode during the ride to save battery life.
For power I plan on bringing a couple of usb batteries. Each one has 2800 mah capacity. Theoretically each battery should be able to fully charge my 1300 mah Garmin twice. I'm thinking (hoping) that 2 batteries should last me the entire trip since I've never run my Garmin down completely. Even after an extremely long day of riding my Garmin has always had some battery life left. I picked the batteries up at Costco. In fact I picked up a pair for Mike Sojka too. Attached is a photo of the batteries, which conveniently fit in a 1" round travel toothbrush case. The case protects the batteries from accidentally discharging.

Subject: Power!?
How are you planning to power your electro-gadgets? There might be power in the town of Gateway (evening of day 5). Otherwise, it seems we'll be off-grid.

A couple questions:
What electro-gadgets are you planning to bring? I'd like to bring a Garmin (maps, routing, recording for posterity) and my android phone (maps, routing). My experience shoes I can charge both each day from a 2000mah usb battery. Sounds like at least a couple other people are planning to bring Garmins. What are you bringing?

Powering Options:
- We don't need no stinking gadgets! Paper FTW!
- Solar charger + USB battery
- Dyno hub + USB battery
- Huge USB battery that'll last all week
I currently only own a couple small USB batteries, which would work for me for a couple days, but I don't want to carry four of them!
