Re: Map Set, Hut Key(s), and Community gear

Cool Dave!

I'll also have a 10,000mAh battery along as well - though according to my power calculations I'll use most of that myself (1/2 charge of phone and garmin each day).   I have a couple smaller USB batteries I'll bring along if someone wants those.

I'm sure the maps paper we'll receive will be excellent, but also wanted to mention that I saw this yesterday:

Sadly, seems like there won't be time to get it before the ride.

Today I received our map set and hut key (they actually sent me 2 keys).  The maps are in color, printed on 11" x 17" paper, and broken down by the riding day (e.g., Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, etc.).  Each day is printed on a single sheet of paper (copy of Day 1 map below).  The longer ride days, which is every day with exception of Day 1, are printed double sided.  While the maps are very detailed, only a few of the maps show the alternate routes.  So we'll have to rely on GPS and/or cue sheets if/when we elect to ride alternate routes.  I'll go ahead and have copies of the maps made for each of you.

On another note, I wanted to let you know of a couple of items that I'll be bringing for the group.  First is a Katadyne "Hiker" water filter.  It'll quickly and easily filter water for potable consumption.  Second is a portable 11,000 mah capacity battery charger.  I'll be carrying this in addition to my two (2) 2800 mah capacity battery chargers.  This "back-up" can be used if you've exhausted your battery chargers.  So if you need juice to keep your boom box going I've got it.

Finally, for those tubeless folks I have a few 2 oz containers of Stan's.  Picked them up at Sea Otter.  If you want one for "just in case" let me know.  I'll bring it but you got to carry it.
